Washington Healthplanfinder offers options for striking Boeing workers

Under recent legislation, health insurance options are available to those losing coverage due to strike Olympia

Workers who will lose their health insurance due to the Boeing strike are eligible to apply for health and dental insurance through Washington Healthplanfinder thanks to SB 5632, which passed in the 2024 Legislative Session.

Sponsored by Sen. Karen Keiser, workers who lose health care coverage due to a strike now have a 60-day special enrollment period before and after employer coverage ends to shop for a health or dental plan on Washington Healthplanfinder.

“For those Boeing workers in our state who are now on strike, their health care coverage is at risk of ending today (Sept. 30). Options are available through our online portal Washington Healthplanfinder, where these workers can access coverage through Affordable Care Act plans or Medicaid,” Washington Health Benefit Exchange (Exchange) CEO Ingrid Ulrey said. “This is crucial to ensure Washingtonian workers, and their families, can still access health and dental services during the strike period. We are so grateful to the Sen. Keiser and the Legislature for providing this option to support those who are affected by the strike.”

The Exchange is providing information and enrollment assistance only and is remaining neutral in the labor dispute.

Workers can apply by calling 1-855-923-4633 (TTY/TDD: 1-855-627-9604), finding help from a trusted resource in their community, or at wahealthplanfinder.org.

Federal and state subsidies may be available to help reduce the cost of monthly premiums, including those who do not have employer-based coverage and who are not eligible for government programs such as Medicare and Medicaid.
