The safety of all Washington Healthplanfinder customers is important to us. In collaboration with community partners, the Exchange is monitoring proposed changes in federal immigration policy for potential effects on Washington Healthplanfinder customers. Updates will be provided as they are available and will be directly communicated to affected customers as needed.
State laws continue to protect the privacy of people who apply for health insurance through Washington Healthplanfinder. Information about immigration is used only to determine health and dental plan eligibility. Information for people without a federally recognized immigration status is not shared by the Exchange.
Applying for or receiving health or dental insurance through Washington Healthplanfinder, including Washington Apple Health (Medicaid), does not affect immigration status or citizenship applications for an applicant, their family, or anyone who lives with them. Section 1332 Waiver
Washington’s 1332 waiver, approved for Jan. 1, 2024, through Dec. 31, 2028, allows all Washingtonians, regardless of immigration status, to purchase a non-federally subsidized qualified health plan (QHP) and qualified dental plan (QDP) from Washington Healthplanfinder.
Apple Health Expansion
Washington State Health Care Authority (HCA) began offering limited enrollment into Apple Health in July 2024. Clients must be a Washington resident age 19 or older, have countable income under 139% of the federal poverty level (FPL), and must not qualify for other Apple Health programs based on immigration status to be eligible.
