Insurance Carriers

The Washington Health Benefit Exchange partners with insurance carriers to offer a variety of affordable and high quality insurance plans to Washington residents. Washington Healthplanfinder provides a new way to offer health plans to individuals, families, and small businesses who may never have had access to coverage before.

Becoming a Carrier: Qualified Health & Dental Plan Certification

Any licensed insurance carriers including insurers, nonprofit health plans, health maintenance organizations (HMOs), and dental plan organizations may submit health or dental plan products to be offered in Washington Healthplanfinder after undergoing a certification process.

Dental plans must meet specific federal requirements and market participation rules established under Washington state law before they can become Qualified Dental Plans (QDPs) offered through Washington Healthplanfinder.

The Exchange has partnered with the Office of the Insurance Commissioner to establish a process to authorize carriers and certify benefit designs for Washington Healthplanfinder. By completing these steps, carriers may be certified to offer Qualified Health Plans and/or Qualified Dental Plans for individuals through Washington Healthplanfinder.

Certification Timeline for Qualified Health Plans and Qualified Dental Plans

The timeline for the 2017 certification process will be maintained by the Washington Health Benefit Exchange and used to guide the certification process for Qualified Health Plans and Qualified Dental Plans.
