Subsidies help make health coverage more affordable

In a news release last week, the Exchange noted that much of the record enrollment (over 300,000) on Washington Healthplanfinder was due to federal enhanced premium tax credits and Cascade Care Savings that are at risk at the end of 2025.

 Cascade Care Savings proved to be so popular that demand outpaced the remaining funds appropriated by the Washington State Legislature for 2025. Continuing Cascade Care Savings is the Exchange’s top priority for the current legislative session.

Both federal enhanced premium tax credits and Cascade Care Savings help make health insurance more affordable to Washingtonians.

The Exchange has developed fact sheets illustrating the benefits of the enhanced premium tax credits and anticipated effects if they are not reauthorized before the end of 2025.
