Deadline to sign-up for ACA health insurance on Washington Healthplanfinder with a Jan. 1 start nears

- Washingtonians who need health insurance coverage for 2024 can shop for plans and may gain access to federal and state subsidies on wahealthplanfinder.org, now through Jan. 15.
- People who pick a plan before midnight on Dec. 15 will have coverage starting on Jan. 1, 2024.
OLYMPIA, Wash. – The deadline to enroll in a 2024 health plan through Washington Healthplanfinder with a Jan. 1 start date is approaching fast. All Washingtonians, regardless of immigration status, can visit waheathplanfinder.org by midnight on Dec. 15 to shop, compare and sign-up for a health or dental plan for 2024. Help through the Customer Support Center will be available from 7:30 a.m. to midnight on Dec. 15.
“Washington Healthplanfinder is working to expand access and affordability to all Washingtonians,” Washington Health Benefit Exchange (Exchange) CEO Ingrid Ulrey said. “We know this is a busy time, but Dec. 15 is a very important sign-up deadline in order to have coverage start on Jan. 1. If customers miss the December deadline, they still have until Jan. 15 to sign up for health insurance with a start date of Feb. 1.”
The Exchange operates Washington’s online health insurance marketplace Washington Healthplanfinder, where those who do not receive insurance through an employer, spouse or through another source can shop, compare and sign up for health insurance. Washington Healthplanfinder is an integrated website, connecting Washingtonians to qualified health plans they can buy or Washington Apple Health (Medicaid), if they qualify.
On Washington Healthplanfinder, customers will find health and dental plans with a variety of cost-sharing options. There are also federal tax credits and state-funded Cascade Care Savings available to those who qualify, to help reduce their monthly premiums. Customers can also enroll in 2024 coverage online from Nov. 1, 2023, through Jan. 15, 2024, by visiting wahealthplanfinder.org, or by calling the Customer Support Center at 1-855-923-4633. Washington Healthplanfinder’s Customer Support Center will have extended hours during open enrollment. The center will be open and ready to aid customers from 7:30 a.m.–7 p.m., Monday through Friday; closed on the weekends and holidays. These hours go into effect Nov. 1, 2023, and end Jan. 31, 2024. The following adjustments were made to the center’s schedule; extended hours are subject to change:

- Dec. 16, 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
- Jan. 14, 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
- Jan. 15, 7:30 a.m. to midnight
- Closed on the following days:
- Dec. 25 – Christmas Day
- Jan. 1 – New Year’s Day
Reminders: Enrollment is offered year-round to individuals and families through Washington Apple Health (Medicaid). Customers enrolled in Apple Health will receive a notice 60 days before the month they enrolled in or renewed their coverage last year.
