Tara Lee

Washington Health Benefit Exchange Chief of Communications

Tara Lee (she/her) is the Chief Communications Officer for Washington Health Benefit Exchange. She has more than two decades of experience in communications, public policy, media relations and nonprofit organizations.

Tara spent six years working for Gov. Jay Inslee, first as press secretary and then as executive director of communications. Her communications experience includes serving as assistant vice president and senior director of strategic communications at Seattle University; executive and internal communications officer at PATH; communications and outreach director for the Washington State Budget & Policy Center; and policy and marketing lead for Arcora Foundation (formerly Washington Dental Service Foundation). She began her career working on political campaigns in Washington and California.

Tara currently serves on the board of directors for the King County Sexual Assault Resource Center and previously served on the advocacy and government affairs committee for the Washington State Chapter of the March of Dimes.

Tara has a master’s degree in public administration (MPA) from Seattle University and a bachelor’s degree from Western Washington University.
