The Washington Health Benefit Exchange today is encouraging Washington Healthplanfinder customers to take early action to secure health and dental coverage that begins at the New Year. Residents have until 11:59 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 23 to sign up for coverage with a start date of Jan. 1, 2017.
“Individuals and families who have not yet signed up for health and dental plans should not delay securing coverage that begins on Jan. 1,” said Pam MacEwan, CEO of the Washington Health Benefit Exchange. “We anticipate traffic to Washington Healthplanfinder and our Customer Support Network to continue increasing as the Dec. 23 deadline approaches. Residents should act now to avoid any gaps in coverage.”
Recently, Washington Healthplanfinder has experienced a higher volume of traffic during peak hours of operation from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays. Customers seeking 2017 health and dental coverage are asked to take advantage of extended hours and supplemental resources offered by the Exchange’s Customer Support Network to ensure their applications are received prior to the Dec. 23 cutoff for Jan. 1 coverage.
The following customer support is available:
- Online: Resources that are available anytime at wahbexchange.org include important shopping tips and other helpful information about getting covered.
- Over The Phone: Regular hours of operation for the Customer Support Center are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. every weekday at 1-855-WAFINDER (1-855-923-4633). Special extended hours of operation include:

Since the start of open enrollment on Nov. 1, more than 160,000 individuals and families have already signed up for Qualified Health Plans (QHP) through Washington Healthplanfinder. The updated total reflects an increase of more than 20,000 QHP selections over the same point in the open enrollment period last year. In addition to 2017 QHP selections, more than 22,000 Washingtonians have signed up for Qualified Dental Plans (QDP) that are now offered through Washington Healthplanfinder.
“Early interest in adult and family dental plans confirms feedback from customers who have been asking that dental be added to the coverage options available through Washington Healthplanfinder,” said MacEwan. “We continue to encourage customers to review these new dental plans and add this important benefit to their package of coverage that begins at the start of the New Year.”
