Washington Health Benefit Exchange Issues Statement on 2020 Health Insurance Plan Certification

More than 38 health plans and five dental plans approved today OLYMPIA, Wash.

Today, Pam McEwan, CEO Washington Health Benefit Exchange (Exchange), issued the following statement regarding the 2020 health insurance plan certification for Washington State announced by the Office of the Insurance Commissioner:

“Today, the Exchange Board of Directors approved seven plans to sell on Washington Healthplanfinder.  The remainder of the 2020 health insurance plans will be finalized at a board meeting held on Thursday, September 19, 2019.  We look forward to continuing to work with our health care stakeholders to create an individual health insurance marketplace that will best serve the people of Washington.

“The Exchange is pleased to see the majority of consumers will experience lower health insurance rates for 2020.  Approximately 80% of families and individuals annually find more affordable coverage using Washington Healthplanfinder to buy health coverage with 65% receiving financial help.”

2020 individual Exchange health insurers approved today:

  • Coordinated Care Company
  • Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of the Northwest
  • Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Washington
  • LifeWise Health Plan of Washington
  • Molina Healthcare of Washington
  • PacificSource Health Plans
  • Premera Blue Cross

BridgeSpan Health Company and an additional health insurer will be reviewed on Thursday, September 19, 2020 to sell on the Exchange by the board.  After action is taken by the board, the Exchange will complete analysis and release additional information. 

Reminders: Enrollment is offered year-round to individuals and families through Washington Apple Health (Medicaid). Customers enrolled in Apple Health will receive a notice of 60 days before the month they enrolled in or renewed their coverage last year.
