Don’s Story

Reverend – Seattle, WA

A pastor at a small church, Don, 59, didn’t have health benefits in 2008, when splitting headaches sent him to the hospital. After several tests, the doctors found brain tumors. It was a scary time for Don and his wife. And on top of the stress of his health crisis, the couple worried about what would surely be a huge hospital bill. However, the tests counted as charity care. The experience crystallized for Don the importance of having health insurance, but unfortunately he couldn’t afford it at the time. Now with Washington Healthplanfinder, he’s found a plan. He can breathe a little easier, knowing that if he gets sick, he won’t have to worry about a visit to the doctor or hospital.
