Individuals and Families
Washington Healthplanfinder is a customer-friendly, online marketplace where you can make side-by-side comparisons of health insurance plans. It gives
individuals and families the confidence to choose the plan that best fits their needs and their budget. If you have
questions about health plans or need help enrolling, you can access free, in-person help with your application.
Quality Health Coverage
All health plans offered through Washington Healthplanfinder meet strict benefit and quality standards. And all the essentials are covered, including visits to the doctor and emergency room, prescriptions, maternity care and preventive care like cancer screenings and immunizations. If an accident or illness strikes, a health plan can help protect you from huge medical bills. In addition, no one will be denied coverage because they are sick or have a pre-existing condition.
Help Paying for Coverage
Most individuals and families who enroll through Washington Healthplanfinder receive financial help to pay for their coverage. Depending on how much you earn, you can qualify for a free or low-cost health plan or be eligible for financial help that can lower the cost of your premiums and co-pays. Free or low-cost health coverage options are provided through Washington Apple Health (Medicaid) or Qualified Health Plans with tax credits.
When New Customers Can Enroll
A new customer can sign up for a Qualified Health Plan during the standard open enrollment period. The next Qualified Health Plan open enrollment period starts Nov. 1, 2015, for coverage beginning Jan. 1, 2016. The open enrollment period ends Jan. 31, 2016.
Those who qualify for Washington Apple Health may enroll year-round, as well as American Indians/Alaska Natives.
If you have a qualifying life event, you’re eligible to sign up during a special enrollment period. This means you can enroll in a new plan or change your current plan outside the open enrollment period. Some of these life events include getting married, having or adopting a baby, moving to a new coverage area or losing other health care coverage. Your special enrollment period lasts 60 days from the date of the qualifying life event.
